The Center provides Los Angeles math tutoring, reading, and writing.
Reading can include reading comprehension, basic reading skills, beginning reading including phonics and pre-reading work for nonreaders.
Math includes basic number facts, knowledge of formulas and how to create memory techniques to help learn those multiplication facts and other basic number skills. Math reasoning is also taught in order to master application or word problems. Young students will learn how to use manipulatives and number lines and multiplication charts to help them with basic facts. Calculators and computer programs are also used to teach both basic math skills and math reasoning. Marie also teaches Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II.
Writing requires use of basic knowledge of how to create a word using letters, sentences, paragraphing and various types of stories, essays and narrative writings. Thinking Maps are utilized to organize and allow for editing of materials. Drafts and editing is worked on in both paper and pencil and computer word processing form.
Adults have retrained with Marie to seek new positions in the areas of law enforcement as well as in the entertainment industry. Learning disabled have had success learning compensating techniques in order to improve in their reading, writing and math skills.
Parents are welcome to ask for help in working effectively with school districts in order to obtain services for their children. Advocacy for all learners is Marie’s Mission and belief.
